Scanary AIThis policy explains what Scanary AI ("Scanary," "we," "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. Scanary AI is operated by Kode Foundry. By using the app you agree to this policy.
01Overview
Scanary is built to keep your documents yours. Text recognition (OCR) runs on your device. Your scans stay on your iPhone unless you use an AI feature or turn on cloud backup. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
02What we collect
Account identifiers
When the app starts we create an anonymous account so your data has an owner. If you sign in with Apple, Google, or email and password, we receive a user identifier and an email address (with Apple this may be a private-relay address), and your name when provided.
Profile
You can optionally add a display name, a country, and a profile photo. This information is stored with your account and, if provided, synced to our cloud so it is available across your devices.
Your documents
Scanned images and the recognized text stay on your device by default. If you enable Cloud Backup / Sync (a Premium feature), document titles, categories, text, and images are stored in our cloud so they sync across your devices.
Camera & photos
The camera is used only to capture documents you scan. Images are processed on-device and are not uploaded unless Cloud Backup is on.
Diagnostics
We may collect basic, aggregated usage events to understand which features are used and to fix problems. Analytics is currently disabled by default; if enabled it collects app-interaction and crash information that is not used to identify you.
03How we use your information
- To provide core features, scanning, OCR, organization, search, and export.
- To deliver AI features you request, summaries, key-info extraction, and document Q&A.
- To back up and sync your documents when you turn on Cloud Backup.
- To operate accounts and manage your subscription.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app.
04AI processing
AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete and should not be relied on as legal, financial, medical, or professional advice. Always verify important details against the original document.
05Third-party services
We rely on the following processors, each under their own privacy terms:
- Google Firebase: authentication, cloud storage (Firestore), and analytics. See Google's privacy information.
- OpenAI: AI summaries, extraction, and Q&A. See OpenAI's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat: subscription management. Purchases themselves are processed by Apple; we do not receive your full payment details.
- Apple: App Store, Sign in with Apple, and in-app purchases.
06Storage & security
Local data is stored on your device. Cloud data (when enabled) is stored in Google Firebase, scoped to your account. We use industry-standard safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
07Retention & deletion
Local documents remain until you delete them or remove the app. Cloud data remains until you delete it. You can remove all documents at once in Settings → Erase All Data, which deletes local and cloud copies. You can permanently delete your entire account and all associated data in Settings → Security → Delete Account; this removes your account and cloud data from our servers. You may also email us to request deletion.
08Children
Scanary is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
09Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email us at the address below.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
